Helping Our Kids Succeed

Youth Programs

School Snack Packs

Through our ongoing partnerships with school social workers and staff, we consistently hear that students who are hungry have a harder time focusing, participating, and staying engaged. Hunger affects attention, energy levels, and even behavior—especially later in the school day. School social workers have identified student snacks as one of the greatest unmet needs right now. Having access to reliable, nutritious snacks helps students stay regulated, attentive, and ready to learn, ensuring they can focus on what matters most: their education.

Community School

The Place partners with East Forsyth High School to support students and families by connecting them with resources, opportunities, and services that promote academic success, personal growth, and overall well-being. Through spaces such as The Broncos' Place and Broncos' Thrift, students have access to food, drinks, clothing, hygiene products, school supplies, leadership opportunities, and additional support designed to help them thrive both in and out of the classroom.

Holiday House

Holiday House is a heartwarming program that gives parents and guardians the dignity and joy of selecting new, unwrapped gifts their children truly want. Families facing hardships are invited to shop for their kids, choosing items that fit their needs and wishes.

Orange Duffel Bag Initiative

The Orange Duffel Bag Initiative is a 12-week program that empowers young people to identify their strengths, discover their purpose, set meaningful goals, and create a plan for their future through leadership development, self-discovery, and life-skills education.

Graduation Gifts for McKinney-Vento Students

We close out the school year on an incredible high note, celebrating our McKinney‑Vento students with graduation gifts made possible through community generosity. The McKinney‑Vento Homeless Assistance Act ensures that children and youth experiencing homelessness have immediate school enrollment, educational stability, and transportation — removing barriers that often stand between them and academic success.

Gift of Prom

Prom is a milestone that every student deserves the chance to enjoy. Through Gift of Prom, The Place helps under-resourced students participate in this special event by providing many of the items that can make prom financially out of reach. From dresses, shoes, and jewelry to tuxedo rentals, hair and makeup services, and other essentials, Gift of Prom helps remove barriers so students can celebrate this memorable occasion with confidence.

Summer Internships

The Summer Internship Program provides high school students with hands-on experience in community service and nonprofit work while helping them develop leadership, professional, and career-readiness skills through workshops, tours, projects, and volunteer experiences.
